TOM SWIFT AND HIS
ULTRASONIC CYCLOPLANE
by VICTOR APPLETON II
“There's
part of Bud's wrecked plane!”
Hovering in his new cyclo- plane, the SwiftStorm, in turbulent skies
above the wilds of the New Guinea jungle, Tom Swift points to wreckage from
his best friend's crashed jet. The area, flanked by twin volcanoes, is as
forbidding as the de- serted native huts clustered in sinister shadows.
Without the revolutionary aircraft that is Tom's latest invention, a
rescue attempt would be impossible amid the relentless storms lashing the
region. Leading a rescue expedition, Tom is up against insect swarms,
fierce bats, deadly snakes, quick- sand, and furtive shadowers who launch
barrages of razor-sharp stone missiles.
Tormented by crafty enemies, the
searchers discover that the young pilot is a captive of unscrupulous criminal
partners who have made him the victim of a weapon of evil power. Tom struggles
to defeat his de- termined foes, who have discovered an ancient secret in the eerie sur- roundings of a
dead city watched over by stone gods!
